Sync for you and your agents

Rift keeps your folders, SQLite databases and Git repositories in step across your machines and your agents. It runs on your own Cloudflare account at a domain you choose, and keeps every version of every file.

Each kind of file syncs its own way

  • Binaries. Photos, video and other large files are split into chunks by their content, so an edit sends only the chunks that changed.

  • Text. Notes and code sync live as you type, whether you edit the file on disk or in an editor with the Rift plugin.

  • SQLite. One machine writes a database and every other machine reads a replica of it. The right to write can move from one machine to another.

  • Git. Repositories sit in the same tree as your files, and push and pull like any Git remote.

  • Secrets. They are encrypted with keys that only your approved devices hold. The web UI lists each secret's name and versions and has no way to show its value.

  • Files on demand on your Mac

A mount streams each file as a program reads it, so a large archive takes no disk until you open something in it. Every file shows its full size, and agents and command-line tools see an ordinary folder.

  • Read or write, per folder

Each device and each agent gets read or write on the folders you choose, and your server enforces it. Every change records the device or agent that made it, and a change made in the web UI records you.

  • Agents ask before they join

A new agent or device shows a code and waits. You approve it in the web UI with your passkey, and remove it there when you are done with it.

  • History on everything

Every version of every file is kept, so an edit or a deletion on one of your machines never loses the version before it. Open any folder at an earlier moment, or bring back one file.

  • Your account, your address

Rift runs on your own Cloudflare account at a domain you choose. File contents are stored in your own R2 bucket, and Git repositories in Cloudflare Artifacts on the same account.

  • Open source

The code is public, so you can read it, run your own copy and change it to suit you.
